New Here?

There is room for you at Calvary!

Welcome to Calvary!

If it's your first visit, we're thrilled to have you. We know stepping into a new place can feel daunting, so we've put together some information about who we are and what you can expect.

What type of person is a good fit for Calvary Jesup?
This local assembly is for the beggar, the broken, the blind, and the burdened. When you join our fellowship, you will quickly discover we are just like you yet blessed by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As disciples of the Lord Jesus, we are lifelong learners. We are not who we used to be, yet we are not a finished product. We need instruction, direction, accountability, and encouragement. We, the members of Calvary Jesup, believe this church is where the Holy Spirit wants us to serve in this season of life. We welcome all people the Spirit leads to come here and join our fellowship.
Wherever you are, just come. There is room for you at Calvary!

How should I dress for a worship service at Calvary Jesup?
Everything a believer does and decides should have purpose. In choosing what to wear to one of our services, always keep in mind why we are meeting. We are meeting to worship the Lord corporately, with like-minded believers. We dress in a way that honors the Lord. That looks differently for each person. Various factors in one’s decision include style, comfort, and affordability.
The families who attend this local assembly dress in a variety of styles. What we do emphasize is to dress in a way that glorifies the Lord first and foremost, limits the focus on yourself and your attire, and does not distract others from the purpose of being here. The service is always to be about Jesus. Dress that way.

When and where are weekly services held?
Sunday services
Sunday School meets from 9:15AM to 10:15AM across the campus. Most of our classes are held in the Educational Building across from the Post Office on Walnut Street. There is a class for all people. We have classes for couples, singles, and a mixture of both. We have classes for people of all ages. All class curriculum is based on the Bible. In the adult classes, there is a variety of curriculum used. Each class decides what the curriculum will be. The goal in each adult class is to have verbal interaction between the class members. The nursery is available for children under the age of three.

Sunday morning worship services begin at 10:30AM in the Worship Center and usually lasts until 11:45AM. Visitor parking faces East Cherry Street directly in front of the vestibule. You will be greeted by Welcome Team members who are available to assist you and give you a gift bag. Ushers in the vestibule will help locate your family a seat in the congregation. This service includes worshiping in music (a choir special, Praise Team specials, and congregational songs), fellowship, and in preaching. Usually after the choir special, Children’s Church begins. Please visit our children’s page to see details of Children’s Church. The nursery is available for children under the age of three.

Wednesday services
Wednesday night services stretch across the campus. Choir practice takes place in the Choir Room from 6:00PM until 7:00PM. For our children, we offer AWANA during the school year and Shine! during the summer months. AWANA meets in the Worship Center beginning at 6:20PM. Shine! meets in the Fellowship Hall at 6:45PM. The children’s service ends at 8:00PM year-round. Calvary Students meet in the Youth Suite at 6:25PM and runs through 8:00PM. Adults meet for Wednesdays in the Word from 7:00PM until 8:00PM in the Worship Center. When AWANA meets, the church provides Wednesday night suppers for those working and attending Wednesday services. It starts at 5:30PM and runs until about 6:40PM.  The nursery is available for children under the age of three.

How does one become a member of Calvary Jesup?
Members of this local assembly are believers on the Lord Jesus who have publicly professed the Lord Jesus through believer’s baptism. Prospective members also attend and complete the Calvary Connection Course. This course enlightens prospects of who we are as a church, what we believe, how we are organized, and how to serve.

Growing Together in Worship & Word

Calvary Baptist seeks to worship the Lord Jesus in spirit and in truth. We desire to be biblical in all our aspects of worship. The Bible serves as the basis of our music, teaching, preaching, giving, and reaching. We welcome all who seek to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. Our music serves a blend of contemporary and traditional worship. Children’s Church includes children from age three to third grade. Nursery care is provided throughout the service.
